Chronology of cameras APEM
APM is a British manufacturer that emerged from the merger of several older manufacturers, including Rajar, Kershaw, and Marion, in 1921. APM stands for Amalgamated Photographic Manufacturers, as it's quite clear. The commercial brand is APEM, which is easier to pronounce than APM. In 1929, the association split, with a portion retaining the name APEM and becoming part of Ilford.
__________Released in 1929, the Rajar No. 6 is the first strut camera fully made of bakelite. Four struts keep the bellows in place when the camera is in use.
The sector shutter provides only one speed (approximately 1/30) and offers T. There is no diaphragm in front of the simple meniscus which serves as a lens.
A small viewfinder can be tilted for use of the camera in the "landscape" mode.
In short, it is a extremely simple camera, but innovative in its shape and material. Kodak took inspiration from it a few years later to design the Hawkette.
